Dharamsala: Speaker Pema Jungney, on behalf of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile extended his gratitude to Hon. Members of the European Parliament for adopting a resolution in support of Tibetans, other ethnic and religious groups by accentuating the world about China’s restrictive and harsh policy on these groups on 18 April 2019.
In the letter, Speaker on behalf of all Tibetans in and outside Tibet and especially the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile genuinely expressed gratitude to all the Members of European Parliament for adopting such a resolution in support of the voiceless people who are still suffering under the harsh policy of Chinese authorities. Moreover, this resolution was adopted with a large majority of 505 in favor, 18 against and 47 abstentions.
Speaker also wrote ‘’The adoption of this resolution sends a strong message to the world that China’s repressive measures on Tibetans and other ethnic groups are strongly not acceptable and want China to ratify the international covenant on civil and political rights’’.
