Dharamsala : Speaker Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel attended the 57th TCV Founding Anniversary celebration at Upper TCV as its Guest of Honour.
Speaker addressed the gathered audience on the endeavors and legacy of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for the preservation and sustenance of Tibetan culture and identity. Citing His Holiness’s unceasing efforts at the facile accessibility of quality education for the Tibetan children, he stated that from its foundation at Kullu on 17 May, 1960 till now, Tibetan Children’s Village School has only developed and flourished for better under the supervision and care of late Mrs. Tsering Dolma Talka and Ama Jetsun Pema.
He further stated that the implementation of the Basic Education Policy of Central Tibetan Administration by the school would be of exemplary to the other schools in the coming times. He also expressed his commendation over the recognition of Vocational Training Center (VTC) all over India under the name of Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
Referring to the repressive policies by the Chinese government and deteriorating human rights as well as political situation in Tibet, Speaker said, ‘Living in a free country, each of us should aspire to learn and preserve our distinguished Tibetan language and culture with great interest and delectation.’
He concluded the speech highlighting the necessity of resolving of any conflicts through dialogue and non-violence and the importance of health and hygiene for an overall holistic growth, both mentally and physically, of the students.(Click here to read the detailed speech in Tibetan.)
