Dharamsala: Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Khenpo Sonam Tenphel today condoled the former President of the United States Mr. George W. Bush on the demise of his mother, Barbara Bush, the former first lady and the wife of former President George H.W. Bush, who passed away in Houston on 17th April, Tuesday night at age 92.
Offering his condolence on behalf of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, he wrote,’I understand that words can never really comfort enough at such time. Mrs. Bush was the soul of your family’s legacy and the only US women to witness both her husband and son sworn-in as the President of United States. She was a great proponent of civil rights and her sincere determination in promoting literacy and reading, especially for the disadvantaged communities was indeed praiseworthy.’
He also expressed his gratitude to the Bush family for their support to the cause of Tibet and great reverence accorded to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
