Dharamsala : Chaired by Speaker Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, the fifth day of the fifth session of 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile commenced with the Question-Hour, which is devoted to the questions raised by member of the parliament on any aspect of administrative activity of the concerned department.
Parliamentarian Mr. Dawa Tsering read out his starred question for the Minister (Kalon) of Department of Education Ven. Karma Gelek Yuthok. He gave the necessary reply to the concerned parlaiemntarain as well as to the to the supplementary questions raised by other members of the parliament.
Thereafter, Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay presented the Clarifications of Cabinet, on which a motion for debate was moved by parliamentarian Ven. Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tsetan. Parliamentarian Ven. Geshe Monlam Tharchin supported this motion for debate.
The sittings of the session after the morning tea-break was chaired by Deputy-Speaker Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok.
The house adjourned for lunch break at 12:30 pm and resumed at 1:30 pm to continue with the debate on the Clarification of Cabinet by the members of the parliament. 27 members of parliament participated in this debate.
It has followed by the previous sitting’s pending business.,i.e., Department of Information and International Relation’s surkyol (zur bkol) budget, which was approved unanimously today.
The debate on the proposed 2018-2019 Recurring Budget (rgyun gron sngon stsis) of Department of Security continued as per today list of business.
Today’s session welcomed a group of students and staffs of John Hopkins University (JHU), USA, led by the Director of John Hopkins Center for TB Research Dr. Richard Chaisso, Dr. Zorba Paster, Professor at University of Wisconsin and Dr. Kunchok Dorjee, Post-Doctoral Fellow at JHU.
