Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok congratulates Canadian PM Justin Trudeau on his re-election
Dharamsala: Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok on behalf of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, and Tibetans in and outside of Tibet congratulates Justin Trudeau on being elected as the Prime Minister of Canada for the second term.
In the congratulatory letter, he wrote “Canada is a country defined and celebrated for its pluralism and most importantly, it has been a pivotal country of compassion for helping refugees all over the world and thus has been a great exemplary to other countries.’’
“We are genuinely grateful to the government and the people of Canada for the Tibetan Resettlement Project in early 1970s and 2007 by granting permanent resident status to needy Tibetans in exile. Beside that, we are also thankful to Canadian Parliamentary Group for Tibet for co-hosting 6th World Parliamentarians Convention on Tibet along with Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile in Ottawa in 2012 and bringing Tibetan issue forefront on the world’s platform,” he wrote.
Speaker also wrote “we are honoured to the government and the people of Canada for presenting His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with Honorary Canadian Citizenship in 2006 and welcoming His Holiness to Canada several times. Moreover, we are gratified that His Holiness the Dalai Lama had an interaction with the then Prime Ministers and other dignitaries of Canada.”
He wrote “over the years, Canada has constantly supported the cause of Tibet and hence, we remain indebted to you and your people.”
