Deputy Speaker meets Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of State (I/C) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India

Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok met with Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of State (I/C) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Government of India at Institute of Himalayan Bio-Resource Technology, Palampur on May 1, 2018

 

Dharamsala : Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok met with Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of State (I/C) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Government of India on May 1, 2018 at Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur.

Sh. Giriraj Singh was scheduled to visit Dharamsala on the same morning but was cancelled due to other prior commitments. He invited Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok to visit the institute where the Minister was residing.

As per prior appointment with Sh. Gririraj Singh at 5:45 pm, Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok visited his resident at Institute of Himalayan Bio-Resource Technology (IHBT), where he received a warm welcome by its staff and met with its Director Dr. Sanjay Kumar and the Minister himself. The Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile briefed them on the current situations inside Tibet as well as on Sowa Rigpa, the Tibetan herbal medicinal practices. They discussed on the inception of the traditional Tibetan Medical practices, its medicines and their various benefits. They also discussed on India’s stand on Tibet and especially on Modi government’s concern towards the Tibetans in exile. He was, in particular, deeply saddened by the escalating numbers of self-immolation inside Tibet which began in 2009. Deputy Speaker also presented them with various publication and books related to Tibet and its issues.

Sh. Giriraj Singh, who is a staunch supporter of the Tibet cause and has expressed concern on Tibet cause on various occasions, assured his continued support for the cause of Tibet. He also apologized for the cancelled visit to Dharamsala and agreed to visit the Central Tibetan Administration and the clinic of Padmashree Dr. Yeshi Dhonden next time.

Deputy Speaker thanked the Minister for sparing his time despite his busy schedule and for his continued support for the cause of Tibet.

Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok also met with Shri Shanta Kumar, Convener of All Party Indian Parliamentarians Forum on Tibet at his residence in Palampur and updated him on the signature campaign and other related matters.
