Dharamsala: 10 medical resident doctors from São Paulo in Brazil visited the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and met with its Deputy Speaker Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok today’s afternoon at 2:30 pm.
The Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok greeted the doctors with a warm welcome as he introduced them to a brief history of Tibet. He then elucidated on the urgent situation inside Tibet, in particular, reflecting on the escalating number of self-immolations in Tibet as symptomatic of the discontentment against the highly repressive policies adopted by the government of China. He also spoke in detail about the Central Tibetan Administration in exile; its source of income; composition of Tibetan Parliamentary members and the procedure of the parliamentary sessions; World Parliamentarian Conventions on Tibet as well as various other Tibet support groups.
He implored them to support the just cause of Tibet after understanding all the facts and to seek the support from their respective parliamentarians upon their return, which was met with affirmations.
The brief meeting concluded with a session of question and answer.
