
Washington DC : On the last day of his visit in Washington DC (Dec 14), Hon. Speaker Ven.Khenpo Sonam Tenphel along with Representative Ngodup Tsering, Office of Tibet, U.S., were escorted to the House of Representative Gallery by Congressman Jim McGovern and observed the proceedings of the House in Session when the Congressman delivered his speech on His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Tibet and urged his colleagues to join him in calling on the Chinese authorities to allow His Holiness the Dalai Lama to return to his homeland.

In the late afternoon, the Speaker was interviewed by Washington based Radio Free Asia Tibetan service about his US visit and thereafter, he joined International Campaign for Tibet’s (ICT) holiday party, which was attended by the local Tibetans and Tibet’s supporters including former Canadian Senator Di Nino.

Matteo Mecacci, President of ICT warmly welcomed the Speaker in the party and introduced him to the gathering. The Speaker greeted the gathering and thanked ICT, former Senator Di Nino and all the people present in the meeting for supporting and working for the cause of Tibet.
