Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile addresses the 36th Anniversary of U-Tsang Cholka Committee

Speaker addressing the 36th Anniversary of U-Tsang Cholka

Dharamsala: As per the invitation proffered by the office of the Central Executive Committee U-Tsang Cholkha, Speaker of Tibetan Parlaiment-in-Exile Mr. Pema Jungney as a chief guest attended the celebration of their 36th anniversary at Lhagyari near Tsuklagkhang at Mcleod Ganj on 16th March 2019.

Beside the Speaker, other guests including members of parliament from U-tsang province, executive members of the committee and public gathered there to celebrate the event.

The program began with traditional Thrinkul offering to the protectors of Tibet by the monks of Nechung Monastery, followed by the lighting of Tibetan butter-lamp by the Speaker and singing of Tibetan national anthem. The gathered public and guests took a minute of silence to mourn in solidarity for the demise of the Tibetan martyrs.

After the opening speech from the President of the U-Tsang executive committee. Speaker on behalf of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile addresses the ceremony by greeting all the guests and lauding the speech delivered by the President of the U-Tsang Committee. He talked about the importance of appreciating champions/ heroes. Like the objective of U-Tsang Committee, the speaker emphasized on reaching to the general public and helping the destitute especially those who can not afford their children’s education.

Speaker also talked about the dissents in Tibetan society and urged all the Tibetans to stay united and all the Non Government Organizations to take initiatives. Since, disunity among Tibetans is against His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s wish, Tibetans inside the Tibet and Tibetan diaspora so the Speaker urged all the Tibetans to stay united as a consolidated iron and offer His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the offering of rejoice (gaypey choetren)

Since its objective of all the organizations to follow the advices of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, so the Speaker spoke about the importance of practicing advices of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on politics, health and spiritual etc. He emphasized on paying special attention on health and advised governing members to plan actions which can be executed and which can not be executed in a year.

Finally, the ceremony ended with thank you speech from secretary of U-Tsang Cholka and traditional sangsol(incense offering).
