Dharamsala : The Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel wrote to the Chief Minister of the Himachal Pradesh, Shri. Virbhadra Singh, offering his condolences to the victims of the devastating landslide in Kotrupi area of Mandi under his jurisdiction, which occurred on 13th August 2017.
He wrote ” On behalf of the Tibetan Parliament-in- Exile, I would like to convey our deepest condolences to the people of Mandi, who are undergoing the tragic and traumatic experiences due to this disaster.
Please convey our deepest sympathy and solidarity to the grieving families of the deceased and all those affected by this calamity. We pray for an early recovery of the injured in this massive landslide.”

The landslide, triggered by a cloudburst, occurred around 1:15 am at Kotrupi village, Mandi. It swept away several vehicles, including two buses of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), two cars and a motorcycle. Five houses were also damaged.
It is reported that at least 46 people were killed and 10 missing. The rescue work is ongoing.
