DHARAMSHALA: Soon after the announcement of the formation of All Party Japanese Parliamentary Group for Tibet this morning, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile wrote to its President Mr. Shimomura Hakubun expressing gratitude to the Japanese Parliamentarians.
In his letter, Speaker said, “on behalf of the Tibetans inside and outside Tibet, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile would like to express our earnest gratitude to the Japanese parliamentarians from the Houses of Representatives and House of Councillors for your great support and concerted efforts in forming an All Party Japanese Parliamentary Group for Tibet.”
He also mentioned that the Tibetans are also tremendously grateful to the government and the people of Japan for receiving His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Japan on several occasions and extending support to the Tibetan people and the Tibet cause through various possible means.
“Japan and Tibet have a common religion of Buddhism which highlights the core of human values and peace. The support extended by the Japanese government and the people is extremely essential at this time of our struggle and we hope for your continued support for years to come,” he concluded
