Tibetan Parliamentary Delegation Concludes Official Visit to Tenzin Gang

Dharamshala, 9th November 2024: In line with its periodic visitation program, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile delegation, comprising parliamentarians Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten and Tenzin Jigdal, has successfully concluded their official visit to the Tenzin Gang settlement.

The delegation arrived in Tenzin Gang on 7th November, where they were warmly welcomed by the settlement’s staff, including the Settlement Officer, Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly (LTA), Secretary and members of the Tibetan Cooperative Society, representatives from the settlement’s healthcare center, Sambhota Tibetan School (STS), as well as members of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement (BRDL), Regional Tibetan Women’s Association (RTWA), Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC), and local community leaders.

On 8th November, the MPs visited the Gyuto Monastery to pay their respects, followed by a public meeting with the local community. During the gathering, Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten spoke on the significant achievements of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and provided an update on the work of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). MP Tenzin Jigdal, in his address, elaborated on the international political landscape concerning Tibet and emphasized the collective responsibility of all Tibetans in advancing the resolution of the Sino-Tibetan conflict.

Following the public meeting, a closed-door session was held to discuss the welfare of the settlement. The meeting was attended by the Settlement Officer and staff, members of the Tibetan Cooperative Society, healthcare center, STS school administration, Local Tibetan Assembly, as well as leaders from the RTYC, RTWA, and other local organizations.

The delegation also visited the Tibetan Settlement Office and toured the Sambhota Tibetan School. During their visit to the school, they inspected classrooms and the hostel, which was funded by the state government. MPs Tseten and Jigdal interacted with students, teachers, and staff, providing them with valuable insights and encouragement.

The delegation then met with the Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly, before attending a dinner hosted in their honor by the Tibetan NGOs in the settlement. The event marked the successful conclusion of their official visit to Tenzin Gang.
