Transition in the members of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile’s Standing Committee

Dharamsala : Today the outgoing members of second Standing Committee of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile paved way for new members for its third Standing Committee from Dhotoe and Domey provinces as the new Standing Committee commenced with the respective allocation of the members into different sections and responsibilities.

Members of the second Standing Committee of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Mr. Ngawang Tharpa Gewatsang from Dhotoe province was replaced by Mrs. Juchen Kunchok Chodon while Mr. Lugtsang Gyari Thar and Mr Lobsang Choejor from Dhomey province are replaced by Mr. Karma Gelek and Tsaneytsang Dhondup Tashi, while the rest of the members of the second Standing Committee remained same in the new committee.

At 11 am in the Library cum Conference Hall, the new members of the third Standing Committee of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile were greeted with a ceremonial Tibetan sweet rice (drey sil) and Tibetan buttered tea  as Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel welcomed them.

While welcoming the new members, Speaker said that it is a blessing to serve the Tibetan populace and country. He also expressed his hope that the new members would be able to participate and exude their ability prudently to work together towards various tasks for the common good of entire Tibetan populace and Tibet.

The outgoing members of Standing Committee were bidden farewell in a humble scarf offering ceremony during the Standing Committee meeting yesterday on May 31.

As per Clause VI of the Standing Committee’s rules and regulation under the Rules and Regulation of Central Tibetan Administration, the newly commenced Standing Committee members were allocated into the respective three sections for the duration of one year from June 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019 as following :

I. Gyundrel Deytsen :

  1. Dolma Tsering
  2. Tenpa Gyaltsen

II. Chabsi Deytsen :

  1. Juchen Kunchok Chodon
  2. Geshe Monlam Tharchin
  3. Lobsang Yeshi
  4. Lopon Thupten Gyaltsen
  5. Tsaneytsang Dhondup Tashi

III. Zinkyong rTokship Deytsen :

  1. Geshi Lharampa Atuk Tsetan
  2. Karma Gelek
