Dharamshala, 30th August, 2024: In accordance with the Charter of Tibetan in exile, Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Khenpo Sonam Tenphel administered the oath of offices to Karma Yeshi, former Kalon and former parliamentarian, as the Chairman of the Public Service Commission and Mr. Lhakpa Gyaltsen as the new Auditor General of the Office of the Auditor General earlier today.
Kasur Karma Yeshi and Lhakpa Gyaltsen were elected as the Chairman of the Public Service Commission and the Auditor General of the Central Tibetan Administration with two-third majority votes during 162nd Standing Committee meeting of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted in the presence of Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Kalon Gyari Dolma and standing committee members of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile at 9:30 am in the Parliament hall.
The ceremony began with the offering of Tibetan traditional scarves to the portrait of His Holiness the great 14th Dalai Lama, followed by oath administration, serving a sweetened rice and Tibetan butter tea.
The ceremony concluded with Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Kalon Gyari Dolma, members of the Standing Committee, and the General Secretary of the Tibetan parliamentary secretariat congratulating the new Chairman of the Public Service Commission and the new Auditor General with Tibetan ceremonial scarves.
